What's in the Bowl? 🌿
At first glance, it looks like soup.
But just like the sweet potato showed up to be the bowl, every ingredient in here showed up to be more than soup.
Think of this bowl like a pickup basketball game. Nobody has to be LeBron. They each just have to do their job, and together, they run the court.
Let's meet the team.
🥔 Sweet Potato - Team Captain
The sweet potato isn't just holding the bowl together. It's holding you together.
It's rich in fiber and complex carbohydrates, which means steadier energy instead of the "I need another cup of coffee" crash at 2 p.m. It's also packed with beta-carotene, which your body converts into vitamin A to support vision, immune health, and healthy skin.
Basically, it turns a sad bowl of broth into something that actually satisfies.
Captain material.
🍚 Rice - The Quiet Guy Who Does the Work
Rice has one job.
Transform soup into a meal.
Adding a little cooked rice thickens the broth into a hearty stew while giving you another gentle source of energy. Just a grain doing what grains have done for thousands of years, making sure you're not raiding the pantry 45 minutes later.
Respect the rice.
🥚 Egg - The No-Nonsense Pickup
Protein doesn't always need to come from a shaker bottle that smells like artificial birthday cake.
One egg adds high-quality protein that keeps you full while supporting muscle repair and recovery.
Simple. Affordable. No blender required. No chalky aftertaste. No subscription.
Just crack, drop, move on.
🥑 Avocado - The MVP Nobody Puts on the Team Sheet
Avocado doesn't look like it's doing much. It just sits there, creamy and quiet.
Meanwhile, its healthy fats and fiber are slowing down glucose absorption, preventing the spike-and-crash rollercoaster that sends you diving into a vending bag of Doritos at 3 p.m.
Plus… let's be honest. It's delicious. And sometimes that's reason enough.
🌶️ Jalapeños - The Spark Plug
Yes, it's spicy. Yes, it's "healthy."
Jalapeños are a great source of fiber, Vitamins B6 and C, and capsaicin, which helps with nerve and joint pain, muscle soreness, calorie burn, and appetite control. I was told to eat spicy food to help fight inflammation and support my heart after my heat stroke.
It worked! And it didn't even require me to pretend that I enjoy kale.
The best part: just enough kick to make food interesting, with real benefits hiding underneath.
🔵 Blue Corn Tortilla Chips - The Sleeper Pick
This one might surprise you.
The Hopi have farmed in the desert for millennia using dry farming, no irrigation, no chemicals, just rain and respect for the land. And what they grew turned out to be one of the most nutrient-dense grains on Earth.
Blue corn has 20% more protein than standard yellow corn and those deep blue and purple colors? That's the same family of antioxidants found in blueberries.
So yeah. Tortilla chips and blueberries are basically cousins.
You just thought you were adding a salty crunch.
The Bigger Picture
None of these ingredients is a magic food.
But together, they make a bowl that fuels me through a full afternoon without the crash, the brain fog, or the 4 p.m. vending machine walk of shame.
That's the whole goal.
Not perfection. Not a TED Talk. Just a bowl I can build in ten minutes… that actually does something good for me.
